Program Structure

LaunchPad Module [3 Weeks]

This module is first of three modules that make up the STCD program, 

  • An overview of the lifecycle of ICs, from design to obsolescence. Students not only understand all the phases but also the various job roles in the VLSI Industry
  • Insights into current industry landscape and what specific problems the key semiconductor companies are solving to make money.
  • Sample/preview classes in  digital design, analog design, and CMOS flow.

In this semester, students cover the core aspects of Chip Design and Technology through five key courses. The focus is on essential topics required to build a solid foundation in VLSI design.

Courses include:

  • Circuit Analysis: Dive deep into analyzing circuits critical to IC design.
  • Hardware Description Languages (HDL): Learn the languages used to describe the behavior of electronic circuits.
  • Design Verification: Ensure that designs function correctly through comprehensive testing.
  • CMOS Processing: Study the fabrication techniques of CMOS technology.
  • IC Measurements Lab: Gain practical lab experience, accessible online, to make precise measurements.

  • Live & Recorded Lectures: All classes are live-streamed with recordings available for later viewing.
  • Virtual Lab Access: Perform IC measurements online from anywhere.
  • Optional Campus Immersion: A 1-week immersion at IIT Bhubaneswar available during the semester break (optional, additional fees apply).

In this semester, students specialize in any of several key areas of Chip design of their choice. While building expertise  with coursework, the students also undertake a mini-project worth six credits, offering hands-on experience independently solving an industry level problem in their chosen field.
